The Arun Jaitley National Institute of Financial Management (AJNIFM) is a premier institution dedicated to strengthening professional capabilities in public policy, financial management, governance and allied areas. Established in 1993 as a registered society under the Ministry of Finance, Government of India, AJNIFM was conceived with a focused mandate to provide specialised professional training to officers recruited through the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) and allocated to various organised services entrusted with financial administration, accounts and related responsibilities in the Government of India.
Over the years, AJNIFM has evolved significantly in both its mandate and institutional stature. From its initial role as a specialised training institution, it has grown into a national resource centre for capacity building in financial management and public administration, catering to the professional development requirements of senior and middle-level officers across the Central Government. Its outreach has further expanded to include State Governments, Defence establishments, banks, financial institutions and other organisations engaged in public financial management and governance.
